The Shelby County attorney's office says Hunter Queen, 27, pleaded guilty Monday to manslaughter by recklessness and abandonment of the scene of a death accident.

The Queen was sentenced to three years suspended. It should also serve 52 weekends in the county jail.

Authorities say Jessika Cavazos, 34, and Derrick Cross, 37, were beaten and killed on I-40 eastbound in northern Memphis in August 2013. They replaced a tire in an emergency lane.

The Queen was arrested nearly a year later, while he was a recruit at the Shelby County Sheriff Training Academy. Reina said she thought she had hit a deer.
